Global read receipt is off so when I send an email with a manual read receipt request, soon after sending I get the following response when the message has not been opened or read.

"Your message

  To: John Doe
  Subject: Pat
Sent: Monday, April 13, 2015 12:34:11 PM (UTC+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi
was read on Monday, April 13, 2015 12:36:09 PM (UTC+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi."

Later when the message has actually been read I get the correct read receipt.

Is this an automatic server response or are my emails been sent to multiple places, bug? Virus?

My guess is your getting an automatic response from the receiving server and then one from the email client when the message is read.

You could also be getting a receipt from their phone and desktop mail clients.
