hello michael, can you attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page (but don't add it for real) & inspect the certificate in order to find out which issuer information it contains? (see the screenshot attached for instructions)
thank you!
"This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears - What to do
I do not have that page. I will try and copy and paste it below:.
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.facebook.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified. What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.
what security program are you using on your pc?
Norton
ok, norton causes no issues in this regard normally...
can you try a workaround to inspect the failing facebook certificate? first enter chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul into the address-bar and on the interface that opens enter "https://facebook.com" into the location server field. click on get certificate & view and see who issued it (like in the initial screenshot)
It would not let me copy the total. So I copied this one line at a time.

ok thanks, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally. reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982532#answer-520145
afterwards, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
Thank you. Will do.

Michael
Hello i have the same problem, i followed the info info above very helpful, i have eset, i viewed the certificate info and it says that the certificate is not valid and it was issued by eset.
Does this mean that eset is my problem or something else ?
Thanks for any help!
Hi RainbowSabbath, you can set up Firefox to trust ESET, your security software, to present "fake" certificates to Firefox so it can read your secure web traffic.
The steps for this depend on your specific product. Some user guides:
EndPointSecurity 6: http://download.eset.com/manuals/eset_ees_6_userguide_enu.pdf (section 3.8.3.1.4)
EndPoint Antivirus 6: http://download.eset.com/manuals/eset_eea_6_userguide_enu.pdf (section 3.8.2.1.4)
NOD32 Antivirus 8: http://download.eset.com/manuals/eset_eav_8_userguide_enu.pdf (section 4.2.3.4.1)
Smart Security 8: http://download.eset.com/manuals/eset_ess_8_userguide_enu.pdf (section 4.3.3.4.1)
Thank you, i have smart security 6, i might take sometime to find in the manual, im not quite sure what im doing at this point, what i need to change ?
Hi RainbowSabbath, if you look at the section I mentioned in the latest manuals, I suspect it's very similar to the older version. I don't have any hands-on experience with ESET software. If the instructions in the manual are not useful, you could try ESET's forums.
https://forum.eset.com/forum/23-eset-smart-security/
Note: If you need to import the ESET certificate manually into Firefox, you would do that here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Certificates mini-tab > "View Certificates" button > Authorities mini-tab
Thanks
I located eset and i viewed the certificate and it said its valid to 2024 but could not find facebook in the list.
Ive attached a shot the info i get from morzilla.
Ill guess ill have to try the eset forum.
thanks anyway.
