If I migrate to Firefox from Safari will all my Bookmarks be transferred automatically?
If I change my browser on my MacBook Pro from Safari to Firefox will all my Bookmarks in Safari be transferred to Firefox automatically or do I have to do it manually?
Chosen solution
I tried what you told me but it does not work. I went to Safari and saved all Bookmarks in a file on desktop. Then you are telling me to Import, while still on Safari, right? And import the same file that I saved on the desktop on to Safari again? How does it show up on Firefox then?

Hello antoncard, you have to export bookmarks from Safari(in a html file) and then import the bookmarks(the html file from safari) to firefox
Start Safari, at the top of the Safari window, click on the File menu and choose Export Bookmarks and select a place to put the file. then see Import Bookmarks from an HTML file, of course select the html file from safari.
thank you

See [/questions/932927] Firefox 14.01 not importing html bookmarks You can edit the HTML file and remove all FOLDED attributes in the H3 tags.
<DT><H3 FOLDED>Bookmarks Bar</H3>
Can somebody please tell me in simple language, step by step how to transfer my Safari Bookmarks to Firefox, that's all I want to know. I have a MacBookPro. I know that I have to open Safari and go to File and find Export Bookmarks and save them. I did called them Safari and saved on desktop. Now how do I transfer that saved Safari file to Firefox? That's all I want to know, if possible please. Thanks
We have seen reports that Safari is adding extras code in its HTML file that make the Firefox import wizard from rejecting it.
You can open the HTML file in a plain text editor like TextEdit and check if there are H3 tags that have a FOLDED attribute and remove the FOLDED text like I wrote above. If you have <DT><H3 FOLDED>Bookmarks Bar</H3> then change it to <DT><H3>Bookmarks Bar</H3>
Thank you but succeeded in transferring all my Safari Bookmarks in HTML using the suggestions on the Firefox site in the section 'Import Bookmarks.........from another browser' I have all the Safari bookmarks in folder now in Firefox. I wish to have no folder but it works.
