I have just reinstalled firefox because MSN/Bing had infiltrated it as a serch enginge default. As a result I have an ugly and cumbersome Google page on startup. How do I get "plain and simple" back? ("Plain and simple was one of the attractions of Firefox in the first place)

If you are talking about the G search page without the listing along the left side of the page, see http://theoldgoogle.blogspot.com/ . Google changed their page, that is not something Firefox can control. See the section "Latest News" for a statement from G about no longer supporting the old search page design.

Sidebar removal tool is great news! Still left with tabbed start page and info pages; equally maddening! Any ideas on this one??

Not sure what you mean by "tabbed start page and info pages"

Maybe a screenshot would help along with more detail.

Not Hank N., are you?

Hi, sorry, not Hank!

Hope these screenshots help; recently noticed that if you "Google" Google you get the old page shown!

Cheers,
