No calendar function in my Thunderbird install?

more options

I am probably trying to do something very stupid or it has a very obvious solution, but please bear with me. It seems my Thunderbird install, version 91.1.8 and now updated to 91.9.0, Win10, does not have a calendar function whatsoever. I tried to find the setup of calendar in every menu available. I have been running and updating this install for some time. For some reason , the outlook calendar satisfied me until now, but I am no more satisfied with the inefficient reminders. - it is not in the account setup - there is no calendar icon anywhere - it seems impossible to add the lightning extension to Thunderbird, as it is now supposedly included in TB: but where? Any hint?

Hi Can you see your top menu (File - Edit - View...) and is there "Events and Tasks" in that menu? If so, Calendar should be an option under Events and tasks. Also File - New - Event lets you create a new calendar event. Also over to the far right of Thunderbird you may see two small icons, one for Tasks, one for Calendar, to open the tabs for Calendar. If you have an external calendar you may be able to import the settings - File - Open - Calendar file to import from an .ics file. Or File - New - Calendar - to create a new calendar in Thunderbird. I am using Windows, your experience may be different. Do any of those work for you? If not please post a screen shot of your main Thunderbird 'home' layout, especially the top, or describe what you do see in those File - Open and File - New menu options.

thank you @AgnesRM for the patient answer! It was of course in a menu that I did not look into. File ==> new ==> calendar . And I hadn't seen the icons on the top left (or did they appear after new calendar I don't know) Have a nice day!
