Currently, I have 2 Gmail account and one is for my work and the other one is for my personal use. I didn't have a problem with adding my work account in thunderbird. But for my personal account, it keeps saying that my password is wrong.

Before I asking question, I've done a few steps by myself.

  1. 1. Less secure apps in your Google settings
  2. 2. Changing the google account password
  3. 3. Changing the authentification(?) from 'OAuth2' to 'Normal Password'

Please help me..

Set the authentication on the incoming and outgoing servers to OAuth2, check that cookies are allowed in TB Options/Privacy, delete the passwords in Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB and enter your account password in the OAuth browser window.

Error: Not authorized.

Are you trying to add a chat account or a mail account? Is it a Google domain account or a regular personal @gmail.com address? What's your version of TB?

I'm trying to connect the chat account. I already connect my Gmail account to a thunderbird. Please kindly refer to the info below.

1. regular personal account → '***@gmail.com' 2. The version of Thunderbird is 78.2.1

Thank you for your support.

I think the problem is that OAuth2 for chat accounts is not supported in TB. But you may be able to connect if two-factor authentication is enabled for the account, and then an app password is generated for connecting to Google Talk.
