I'd like attachments to be at the top of the message.

I've been spoiled by other email programs, and I'm used to having attachments appear at the top of the message. Thunderbird's default position of having attachments at the bottom of the message is driving me nuts, and I'm looking for a way of changing that.

Another thread ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1221859 ) included the advice to use the add-on CustomizeMyBird, and change the settings there (and to use the default theme). I tried this and it had NO effect whatsoever, even after restarting the program.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

You will also find article suggesting the use of a userchrome.css file. That is perhaps the more likely solution to do as you want, but rally I will probably only work until some change to attachment handling are made and your teak will again need tweaking.

Personally I just got used to it. Took a while but I did not consider it worth the effort.

I suggest you look in on this discussion https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1221859

Thanks, Matt, but that did not work either. Attachments still show at the bottom of the message, even after restarting Thunderbird. I'm using Thunderbird 52.8.0 I tried modifying the directory from C:\Users\Milo\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ni9s2zv1.default\chrome\chrome to C:\Users\Milo\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\chrome\chrome which also made no difference. I tried eliminating the double subfolder of "chrome", but that only caused messages to fail to open entirely. Do you think I may have incorrectly edited the .css file? I copied the text above the existing text on a separate line. (See attached image).

A userchrome file must be in the profile folder. C:\Users\Milo\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\chrome\chrome is not in the profile folder.

Goto the troubleshooting entry on the help menu and click the show folder button. Now you are in the profile folder create a chrome folder.

I am guessing it will look like this when you are done. C:\Users\Milo\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ni9s2zv1.default\chrome but I have no idea of the profile folder name. Hence my earlier instructions to make sure you are in the correct profile folder.

You're correct about the profile folder name... I confirmed that just as you suggested, and that was one of the places I had tried, so... ?

So use the add-on as discussed in the other topic. Their discussion basically says that the userchrome approach no longer works.
