Update to 3.2.0 esr is unsuccessful - will not "apply".
I am running Firefox 3.1.2 (32 bit) on XP (esr channel). I am trying to update to 3.2.0 (esr), but still unsuccessful after several attempts. I have always applied previous updates and never had any problem previously. The update "downloads" and "installs" OK (from the Help - About box). Then when I click on "Restart Firefox to apply", the Firefix window goes and an apply progress bar appears. After a pause the bar progresses to approx 25% but then jumps to 100%. The Firefox window then appears and also a box to say the the update was unsuccessful. It says to check that there are no other instances of Firefox running and then try again. I have checked for other instances using Program Manager (on the applications & processes tabs). I have also restarted the machine. But every time I start up Firefox I get the same "unsuccessful update" message box. I have tried repeating the whole update process from the Help-About box, but get exactly the same result. Please can you help? (Or maybe a patch is needed to correct this problem?) Many thanks.

Some protection programs don't like the update/install stubs. Go here for the full installer.
