When I open Thunderbird, it tells me it's in contact with Comcast, but no mail is downloaded - to my laptop: no problem with phone or tablet.

turn off the phone and see if mail appears.

M guess is the phone is set to pop and also set to remove mail from the server on download.

What is the account type on all three devices - POP or IMAP?

laptop is a POP account - I can't find the type of the others. Been using Thunderbird for many years w/o problem.

Genius, Matt!! Thank you SO much. This has not been a problem for the two years I've had the phone, so I must have inadvertently changed a setting when fiddling with the phone to fix something else? I can't tell you what an irritant this has been and how grateful I am to have it corrected.
