Whenever I type, like commenting on posts, and I want to make the text bold or italic I try the normal ctrl+b for bold and ctrl+i for italic and such. When I try to make text bold or italic bookmarks appear. What keyboard codes make the text do what I want in Firefox? Codes for italics, bold, underline, strike-through, and any others you guys can think of would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi, you will need to use the posting toolbar - this is bold and this is italic. You can also put 3 apostrophes at either end of a word/sentence for bold, or 2 for italic.

A list of Firefox keyboard shortcuts is here - Keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly.

However, different web sites use different commands to do this. Check with their support pages.

What about with Google? Are there any tricks with commenting on posts in Google+ or creating posts in Google+?

I don't know about Google+, but in Google Groups, there is a formatting toolbar above the area where you type. You can select text and click the relevant button. There would only be keyboard shortcuts for the buttons if Google coded that into the page.
