Why has youtube video downloading stopped working?
Until a few days ago, I was able to play and download videos from YouTube. Then, for reasons inexplicable and confounding, they have stopped downloading altogether. My software program for downloading is Speedbit's Video Downloader which works just fine elsewhere. So what has caused the problem with YouTube?

There probably haven't been changes on the YouTube website to cause this because Video DownloadHelper is still working.
Do the videos still display properly?
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can check for other extensions interfering and disable the others. You can also try to reinstall your download extension and possibly reset the related extensions.* prefs in between.
Try Youtube (VEVO) video and audio downloader https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/firefox/addon/youtube-video-and-audio-dow/?src=ss
I have tried 8 yes EIGHT video download programs all none work...the ones that DO download a video put it in a format that won't play on Windows Media player at all....very unhappy....
Try a player like VLC or MPlayer if the WMP can't play the files.
I find the best and easiest by far is to use firefox download helper. Follow the link for easy instructions on how to install and use download helper. This works on all free video sites and also on You tube which now provides some full BBC and ITV TV programmes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW-gV1Dnh_Y
