Firefox 15 randomly crashes on exit after having viewed pages containing Flash content (Flash 11.4)
It seems that since the automatic update from Firefox 14.0.1 to Firefox 15.0, the browser works normally when viewing pages containing Adobe Flash elements, but crashes when I close the Firefox window. Apparently the browser exits normally but one or two seconds later, Windows reports that Firefox has stopped working and the crash details indicate there was a problem with xul.dll.
This happens randomly, not systematically. But in all cases, it was after some Flash content was loaded. It never happened with Firefox 14 nor any previous versions, and Flash 11.4 was installed before the automatic Firefox update.
Using Firefox 15.0, Flash 11.4.402.265 on Windows 7 SP1 64 bits.

Quite..it seems rather random. But there is always a risk when Flash is required. At the very least everything slows to less than a crawl. Latest Flash does seem to nbe a bit better than the last couple of versions..
I was having the same problem.... But I keep forgetting that when you upgrade firefox... or it updates automatically... you need to right click on the firefox start up icon, go into properties, click on the compatibilities tab, and put a check in the "Run This Program As An Administrator" box, then hit apply. Start Firefox, and it should work OK. Problem is...each time you upgrade firefox and/or I think Adobe flash... you need to make sure that box is checked. This is on Firefox 15.0.1 with Adobe Flash 11.4.402.278 all up to date, Windows 7 64bit.
If the crash is related to xul.dll on firefox exit (no entry in about: crash!!), the only way to help mozilla in fixing this crash is to take a stacktrace and send the report. Otherwise this crash will remain in the next years too.
I've got fed up with Flash 11.4 and gone back to 10.3..that seems still to work far better than the later versions! What has happened???
yes I know a lot of people with this problem. they are using flash 10.3, because 10.3 does not have the sandbox!! sandbox was introduced in May 2012 and the issue still continue. I was ok until 11.3, hen with 11.4 sometne I have a crash of xul.dll on fifox exit. Bugazilla tells me that she want (bugazilla, not adobe!) to fix the problems, but without a stacktrace report they will ignore my messages.
Thanks..at least I'm not alone! I have no idea what the sandbox is..all I know is that 10.3 works, 11.4 does not!

All I know is that after I upgraded to the latest firefox and the latest flash, I was crashing when connecting to any site that had a flash item. I have zone alarm anti virus / internet security set pretty high on security... so that might be what is requiring firefox to run in admin. I don't know if admin is less secure, but that is what fixed mine. As a test, disconnect your computer from the internet, unplug from your modem... start firefox, click on tools, then add-ons. Disable all flash items in firefox. Restart firefox and reconnect to the internet. If everything works, except items that require the flash plug in ... you will know that it is flash. The solution that worked for me was to give Firefox admin rights so it could properly interface with the new flash... it's worth a try... then let Moz.org and adobe figure out why. The only reason I had to disconnect from the internet to do this was my home page has a youtube imbed, and it would hang as soon as firefox was started and accessed my home page, then I could not access my tools or anything.

I've been having this problem too, and I followed the steps to run Firefox from within WinDBG (which I use every day).
I got a log and a crash, but it seems to point to: ExceptionAddress: 00000000750612e3 (SHELL32!DataObj_GetBlob+0x0000000000000038)
instead of xul.dll. But there's lots more info in the log, so hopefully it might help. I'm uploading the log here as an 'image',
