I originally started using Firefox because of problems with IE which are now fixed. Fire Fox 3xxx was great then 4 came out worked ok till the first update ,then pages will not load completely, wheel just keeps spinning 5 was the same and 6 is the same. one Fix is to turn off Java, this makes the sites load but then other sites require Java, can't keep turning on and off. Why are so many add on not compatible? Please fix the loading problem or I will have to stop using Firefox and I do like it when working right. Windows XP fully up to date all add on s are up to date. There are several site with the problem sometimes they load fine but most of the time they do not Richard

I had exactly the same problem with FF6 until now. Was driving me crazy. Turning web shield off in my AVG antivirus solved the problem. It looks like it has something to do with Google's JS in certain pages. Turning of Javascript in Firefox helps too but it's not a solution.

I have already contacted AVG support. Not sure who's more responsible for this though, Firefox and it's whole new versions comming up every couple months or Google/AVG because they just can't keep up with Firefox changing so fast so often =(

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Make sure that yo do not have extensions or security software that is blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Sending a solution that I have already tried is of no help, but I tried them all again, reloading works sometimes, I have seen in the past that others have had this problem also, of pages not completely loading. So I don't see how you can say I am the only one. When I first started using Firefox it worked great but now it doesn't, one of the updates caused this problem. I guess it's back to IE as it works fine now.

Tried all the suggestions, made all changes, still doesn't work, pages will not load completely. The pages that won't load have adds on them, which are part of the page, they seem to be part of the problem. Should I leave the changes as is or put back to original specs?

Most of this I already tried but tried again, still doesn't work all my extensions are marked as incompatible with Firefox 6 except Java quick start.

Created new profile, import bookmarks to new profile, pages still won't load completely. Why should I have to do all this to make Firefox work? I simply start IE and it works. How ever I did love Firefox till this problem came up, love the spell checker as I make many typing mistakes. My wife's computer which also has XP, still has Firefox 3.6 and the pages that won't load on mine computer, with XP and Firefox 6, load completely with no problems.Hers has the same virus program and same fire wall with exactly the same settings. IE also works on hers.

Saved my profile and bookmarks, then Completely removed Firefox, installed Firefox 5.0.1, I did not restore my profile or bookmarks, tried Firefox just as installed, went to the Forum where I have the most trouble, http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/ Main page opened but any subs where you answer or ask questions still would not load completely, wheel just keeps spinning. This is getting very frustrating. Think I will try 3.6.18 which works on my wife's computer and it worked on mine till some update stopped it from working.

I installed 3.6.18, it worked about 96% of the time, funny thing it works every time on my wife's computer. Anyway, the problem seems to be the adds just as I suspected, they are from google double click, I found that I could opt out of them but it seems not completely, but now my page loads all the way to the bottom even if the add doesn't load. I can now access the reply window so I am happy at this point. I am going away and when I get back I will update to the latest version of Firefox and again opt out of the google ads and see if the Latest version of Firefox will work ok for me. Still like Firefox if I can get it to meet my needs, maybe someone should look into the problem with google double click adds not loading. Thanks everyone for your help.

Make sure that you allow full access in the firewall for Firefox and the plugin-container process and that no content is blocked in the firewall (check any advanced settings in the firewall).

Firefox 3.6.18 worked when I opt out of google adds, the add didn't always load but the page loaded completely. I then removed Firefox also my Fire wall, installed Firefox 5.0.1, reinstalled my Firewall so that it auto configured all of Firefox, checked and all of Firefox had full access. I then went to the site where the page won't complete, again opt out of google adds, but you can't opt out completely. Same problem as original Firefox will not load the page completely, wheel just keeps spinning, all add-ons are up to date. It seems no one has a fix for this problem and I am tired of trying, when I think that I should not have to go thru all this to make Firefox work. IE works no problems. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Salix, I am not pleased with the answer, but it did solve the problem. Thanks again

The problem is compatibility, IE8 and 9 has a solution built in called the compatibility button ( a torn piece of paper one will click ) Firefox has no such option. I know this because I work in technical support and most issues I deal with are caused by this. Browsers update faster than web sites can keep up.

What you say about IE 9 is correct but I don't have to use that button for it to work. The problem is with Firefox and AVG. I also hate that history drop down on the back button, who ever thought of that must have had nothing else to do.

Didn't think of shutting down my virus killer (avast! pro) but that is a pretty silly mistake on my part. Thanks for the head's up. I'll add it to the toolbox I'm developing here. Thanks!
