My browser is no longer taking me to the webpage I want when just typing a single word. Yes I've done the about:config and it's correct.

This is driving me crazy. I used to type in "aol" and it would directly take me to the aol home page. Now if I type any word in, it takes me to http://aol It's some sort of a search page. It does this with every word I type in, recipes, blue, orange, doesn't matter. I've done the about:config and made sure the keyword url is reset, I've ran my virus protection, ad aware and malaware, and nothing helps. Please can someone help me?

you probably just installed some program that changes your main page or a new tools bar in your browser. Some kind of chat software that changes the configuration of your browser. Go to tools>add ons and disable the last tool bar or update you made to your browser.

I removed firefox and then installed it again and I still have the same problem. I have a google update? Should I remove that? I also have something that says Java Deployment toolkit 6.0170.4 that is disabled. Thank you for trying to help.

It is possible that your ISP automatically redirects in case of a DNS lookup failure.
