Adobe Reader
I tried to download Adobe Reader from their website. I got a page saying I may account certain difficulties and explained how to deal with them, but the only message I got was referring to missing Plug-ins. When I went to load the plug ins I got a message saying the plug in could not be found. I have referred to Adobe help and read an answer in Firefox about loading AR outside Firefox , but nothing worked. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see a Plugin for Adobe Reader in your More system details... list.
Did you you install Adobe Reader after downloading it?
See if either of these Mozilla support articles help you:

I went to the sites you suggested but could not see anything that helped. I have tried to get the plug in. When I try to download Adobe Reader, a message comes up saying " Install missing plug ins". When I click install I get a message saying 'no suitable pug ins were found'. There is a option to manual install. I clicked on that and got a file gp.xpi which I saved to my desk top. When I tried to open that file the message was that Windows could not open the file. After that I was at a loss to what to do next.
You can download the Adobe Reader from one of these:
Cancel the automatic download and start the download with a click on "click here to download" on the Thank you page:
"Thank you. Your download will start automatically. If it does not start, click here to download."
