FireFox update needed ....
I have been instructed by BCBSIL.com to use GoogleChrome as my browser. Their website is no longer compatible with Firefox. Is there an update that Firefox can do so I don't have to change my browser to Google Chrome? It seems BCBSIL is saying only Google Chrome users can access their site now. BCBSIL is trying to direct what browser I use, isn't this illegal?

I suspect the problem is that Firefox has a small market share so unless a company's developers use Firefox themselves, they often don't even bother testing with Firefox and just tell people to use Chrome. It's sad.

I'm not sure where you saw that. Was this after a support request?
Is it illegal? I don't know. It's definitely annoying. (And possibly just a bit lazy.)
There will always be a few sites that work better or worse in different browsers or with different settings and add-ons. It's useful to have a backup browser installed for those situations.
If you don't want to use Chrome for the site, you could try the latest Microsoft Edge, which is very similar to Chrome under the hood. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge#evergreen
"Nothing was seen" (not sure what this is asking) but was told by several BCBSIL representatives that I should use Google Chrome now.
Do I or don't I have a right to choose my internet browser ?
BCBSIL historically did not block access with Fire Fox browser but now is doing so.
BCBSIL representatives stated that Fire Fox needs to do update so I can continue to access online account
Can Fire Fox update their browser so I don't have to use GoogleChrome ?
Your Firefox reported itself to be the current version when you posted this question. Did Firefox work on the site before the latest update on January 11th? What problem are you encountering when you try to use the site?
If Firefox needs to change to support their site, it would be helpful if they could provide the technical details to Mozilla by filing a bug report on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ (it's not your job to do that for them, although you could if they provide enough details).
Let me be clear
For several years I have used Firefox and had no issues accessing my BCBSIL online account until 12-23-2021
I was told by BCBSIL that I can no longer access my health insurance online account because I use Firefox browser
The BCBSIL representatives told me that I need to use GoogleChrome to access my online account
The BCBSIL reps said that Firefox was not updated and no longer works to access their site
All I was asking is for Firefox to update whatever they need to update because I do not want to use GoogleChrome
I was not provided with any technical information by BCBSIL
There doesn't seem to be any way to contact them through their website or email, they just give a phone number.
Until they can provide information on what they want changed in Firefox (specifically), I don't see how we can help.
Sorry, you and I are at their mercy on this.
Thanks for trying.
I thought this would be a futile undertaking. I have been dealing with "telephonic" servicers that are prone to pawning problems off onto someone else. (gotta be an algo for it in their employee handbook)
I have tried troubleshooting per Mozilla recommendations to no avail.
I am chalking it up to crapification usa style, as I use an old dell pc that's not ammenable to current apps which are being forced upon me every day.

Does this URL work ?
There is a change in Firefox 96 related to cookies and insecure sites.

As a workaround for now you can modify this pref on the about:config page to revert this change.
- about:config => network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
