weird default display/css for every website

more options

Since yesterday, every webpage I load reverts to weird default css/layout

Attached: examples of what twitter, youtube, and google search look like (blacked out identifying info)

I can't remember doing anything different that would have caused this, did not download anything the day it happened

I've disabled all themes & all extensions, same results I've tried different themes, same results I've downloaded and installed new version of firefox, same results I've cleared all cache, history, and cookies, same results I've turned firefox on and off again, same results I've turned my computer on and off again, same results Help!

Using: Firefox version: 91.0 Mac version: Big Sur 11.4

Any suggestions about how to resolve? thank you!

Recent release notes say that Firefox automatically enables High Contrast Mode when "Increase Contrast" is checked on MacOS. It can be turned off in FF settings under General -> the Colors... button -> Override the colors specified by the page with your selections above -> Never.
