Issue: Firefox browser loads and displays correctly, but will not load any webpages. Clicking a bookmark, or typing a URL and pressing enter, both do nothing. I can click the menu button to see the menu, but clicking on options does not do anything.

Thoughts: It is like the code for the browser is missing, even though the software seems to load fine, like when you add a button on a form in visual studio but don't add any code behind it.

What I've tried: Fresh install x2 with the latest version

Installed version: 85.0.2 64bit

This is now solved. I decided on a whim to try re-installing the software one more time after searching my pc for the words mozilla and deleting everything. Now when I tried to install firefox I got an error message saying missing dll (something along the lines of vc_xxxxxx.dll, sorry I can't remember the message exactly)

Installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable solved this issue. This can be downloaded from microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
