This is a laptop that is only in my possession. it was just recreated in June and I keep getting this message in options and it is quite upsetting to me. I have zero organizations that I belong to so this I just don't understand. I have included screen shots of my options page and a shot of what I get when I press the link about organization. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What anti-virus do you use?

Hi Goddess Auralite, some third party software may inject policies or preference locks into Firefox. One possibility is security software.

Could you check whether any preferences are locked (making it impossible for you to change them):

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) Click the "Status" column heading to sort in alphabetical order (or reverse order). Can you find any that have the status of Locked? To share those preferences, you could right-click > Copy and then paste each one.

You can inspect the Mozilla and Firefox keys with the Windows Registry Editor in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and possibly in HKEY_CURRENT_USER with the Windows Registry Editor to see whether GPO policy rules are active.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\

Note that the mere presence of the "MozillaFirefox" key is sufficient to make Firefox display this notification, so if you have the Firefox key then remove it and only leave the Mozilla key or remove this key as well if it is empty.
