Running TB 52.4.0

After following the instructions here, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-search-engine-open-search#thunderbird:win10:tb52, and restarting TB several times, the list of search engines available to be set in the Default Search Engine list remains unchanged, i.e., Google is not listed. Is this article up-to-date and if so, does anyone have a suggestion on why Google is not appearing in the list on my install of TB?

Also, the instructions given in the link above include the suggestion to install the addon, Google Search for Thunderbird, yet the download page for that addon states that it works only with TB versions 11.0 - 31.*. To me, if the article is otherwise accurate, it could be improved by having any reference to this addon removed. Is this something I should report here, i.e., as a Thunderbird question, or is there a more appropriate site for reporting problems with documentation?

Thanks, Terry

While I appreciate that installing the addon did work, my other questions concerning a) the addon's inaccurate description as working on TB versions only up to 31.*, and b) the failure of the "google.xml" file solution provided in the Mozilla article, are still outstanding. Basically, should problems with documentation be reported somewhere specific?

The article itself probably is still correct, but the XML code may not. I haven't tried it.
