Firefox updated sunday 9th july loading times since abysmal why?
Connections are so appalling that I cannot even take a speed test at Speedtest.net anymore. This was fine prior to the update. Pages generally take too long to load, my Internet connection is FTTC and download speeds prior to the update of July9th were around 30Mbps, now on the very very occasional successful test, the results are tragic:- Download: 5.41Mbps Upload: 4.72Mbps This deterioration has only occurred since the updates were applied, nothing else has changed.

Thanks for that but I've no idea what will happen if I follow some of the advice you link to so have not tried them. What I can say is that Firefox again installed updates in the last couple of days, and now "Video DownloadHelper" is once more working, - partial result!! The page loading times are still abysmal Just timed the loading of PCAdvisor Home page (http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/) which is heavily crippled with pesky advertising, it takes exactly one full minute, to the second, that includes a few seconds of "Not Responding" white screen! Loading the same page in Chrome (Sorry for swearing!) takes 25 second with no "white out", Chrome also runs Youtube full screen with no difficulty at all, whilst Firefox staggers to a halt every time after a varying number of seconds saying "Error" please try again later!...how much later is not specified but me thinks I would need a calendar rather than a watch to measure the required Interval! Not at all impressed!

No Idea why you have posted a link to a speed test site, I already have several and the current download speed using this machine is about one third of that for other machines on my network, this sudden drop in speed on this machine occurred immediately following the Firefox update which was applied on July 9th. Coincidence? ...I tend to regard that word with deep suspicion!

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see whether that makes a difference.
Nothing else was changed at the time the Firefox update was applied, the web browsing experience has been crippled ever since. Since I'm using Vista (SP2 Fully patched and updated) the only protection used is Windows Defender with regular on demand scans with MBAM and SAS, ...and of course the defining item - common sense!
Me thinks this is God and (Mozilla) telling me to get friendly with my W10 and Linux machines! ...but I still need this old lady too. :)
