BT Sport virtually unwatchable in Firefox but OK in IE

more options

I use a PC and Firefox is my preferred default browser.

BT Sport is virtually unwatchable in Firefox (juddering, buffering, freezing, delay) but plays pretty well (occasional judder) in Internet Explorer. Why? Do I need to alter Firefox settings? Youtube etc play perfectly well in Firefox.

Details of my system are as follows:-

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, 32-bit OS Internet Explorer 8 Mozilla Firefox 48 Silverlight Plug-in 5.1.50428.0 set on Always Activate Shockwave Flash 22.0r0 set on Always Activate

Thanks for any help you can give
