When sending mail, I got the following message in a window: An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: /0 connection limit exceeded.
I've already called my service provider and they say the problem is not with them. They problem is with my email client (which is Thunderbird).

Matt, I don't have a phone or an ipad. I have only a laptop. I don't even know what IMAP is. I will show your reply to my son and see if he understands it. Anyway, the problem seems to have resolved itself. Hope it doesn't happen again.
Thank for your reply. I won't mark it solved in case it happens again. :) ---Joy

PS-It seems to have cleared itself up and now I can send messages. What do you suppose that window was about? Is it a Thunderbird glitch?

guess aail server usually allow multiple concurent logins. but there is a limit. So when you have a phone and an ipad and a desktop and a laptop It is inevitable that occasionally they will all be there at the same time.
Sending mail uses yet another "connection" so this is usually where you see the trouble first.
If you are using IMAP, right click the account in the folder pane and select settings. In server settings click the advanced button and reduce the connections by one. The lower you go the slower your imap connection works. That is why Apple offer no way to throttle this on their products. They want them working at top speed all the time.

If it happens again just post a note here or ask a new question. WE like to move these things from the awaiting attention dashboard and marking it solved does that. It also allows Google to index the page for others to find.
OK, I marked it solved. Thanks. ---Joy
