The problem might be that you have Windows XP SP2. Microsoft made a change to way .exe files are signed and the changes Mozilla had to make broke the opening of the installer file on XP.

Try downloading and installing the 43.0.1 .exe from this link: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-43.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US

Then let Firefox auto-update from within the browser. That's one workaround I heard that should work because that version is from before the file signing changes.

Try downloading and installing the 43.0.1 .exe from this link: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-43.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US
