If you can please assist with the following, this has been a prevalent issue for about a year now. Firefox always crashes, update after update when performing the below recreation/situation. Being this my browser of choice, this has been pestering me for a very long time.

Devices Used: Note 4 (Verizon) (Latest Update) Chrome Cast (Latest Update)

App Used: Firefox Mobile (Android) (Latest Update) Local Cast (Latest Update)

Re-creation of issue: 1. I visit a mobile site that plays "in browser" Music video content from contestants submitting their music (I do so in Private Browsing Mode). (The contestants usually choose to record in HD or even 4K, to that end, I prefer to watch all of these submissions, usually about 10 at a time on my Television due to video quality and obviously I have much better sound quality on my setup in order to hear certain nuances others with regular equipment can not.)

2. I surf the site looking for the content I am interested in and open up each in a new tab without switching to it. (I do this until I have at least 10 tabs waiting.)

3. I select the tab with the video I chose to play

4. Before playing it in the browser, I press and hold the video and a menu comes up and I select open with app and I select Local Cast. Local Cast opens up and I either select play or add to queue, (I use local cast to play then pause the first initial video and add then I add the other videos from the other tabs to Local Cast's queue for continuous playback.)

5. I then add the other videos by switching back to the Firefox tabs i opened, I close the tab of the video I already sent to local cast, and open the next tab and do the same procedure above to add the other videos to the queue of Local Cast.

Issue: After about 4 or 5 times of repeating this scenario, Firefox crashes, I loose all of my tabs that I haven't sent to local cast and I have to start all over again, and I do not remember where I left off or which video I selected to play.

This is incredibly frustrating. If you could please figure out why this is occurring I would be internally grateful.

Thank you very much for your support. Happy Holidays!!!

Hi

Thank you for your detailed question, I wish many more people were that helpful.

Personally, I think that the problem could be caused at number 2 on your walk through. I know that when I open up many tabs in Firefox for Android on my phone, it starts to slow down, and these are not playing large video files.

Where you have 10 tabs all loading/playing large video files, you may be putting undue strain on the browser. I appreciate that is debatable, but chances are that the streaming you are doing will cause less chance of a crash of Firefox for Android if you reduce the amount of work that you are asking it to do.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

Do you get the crash reporter when Firefox crashes? If so then providing some crash IDs would be good. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter
