Two days ago Thunderbird stopped downloading emails from my server: Telus. It shows downloading action, but does not actually download. Thanks.

Do you see the list of messages?

No I don't see these. Thanks.

Sounds like what some other users are seeing

1. open tools | addons | extensions and remove Lightning/calendar addon 1a. if you can't get to addons, then start thunderbird in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode and try again) 1b. if you still can't get to addons, reinstall thunderbird from http://getthunderbird.com/ 2. restart thunderbird 3. reinstall Lightning/calendar addon - if you need the functionality

Please tell us, does that help?

more options

Cannot send either, but I do have an smtp connection which times out.

I removed the Lightning/calendar add-on, but it didn't help.

Perhaps I misunderstood you, in which case you are not seeing the problem I described.

Please install THunderbird from http://getthunderbird.com/

If it still fails, then you likely have a firewall or antivirus problem. Please Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10 - win8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-safe-mode - win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 - XP http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Does problem go away?
