When I open Lucianne.com or Drudge or The Blaze and others I constantly get advertisement boxes on each side of the lower part of the screen and sometimes along the edge. The sometimes play videos of ads and no matter what I do they don't stop. If I click the little x in the corner of the ad it only tends to enlarge it to full page but they won't go away. This does not on happen on Google chrome. I called McAfee and they would not sell me their virus protection because they said that since it only happens on Mozilla that I should contact you directly about getting rid of the ads.

hello aggnjlaw, this sounds like an issue that might be caused by adware on your pc (unfortunately mcafee isn't very good in detecting those). please perform all these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
