Such progression state is possibly stored in a cookie, so you could try to import cookies from other browser if that is possible in IE (Firefox could do this in the Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).

Why not just try logging into the course from IE. With any luck the course will not need you to use only a single device or Browser and will remember the status from your login information.
