Firefox crashed during secuirty software update. Very important to restore previous sessions/tabs/windows. Help please.
Hi everyone! I just did an update this evening to my security software and in the midst of it all I lost my current session in firefox. It is very important that I restore my previous session or tabs or windows. I have read many of the articles posted on here but am still quite lost. I am able to get to the application data folder. And then am clicking on the Mozilla folder, and then the Firefox folder, and then profiles folder, and then one more folder which brings me to the files sessionstore and sessionstore.bak. From here on wards I do not know what to do. I tried to rename sessionstore.bak but that didn't work. But I believe it didn't work because I am doing something wrong. I am using windows xp. I tried the following forums but am still lost: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961145?esab=a&s=crash+session+restore&r=10&as=s
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/954427?esab=a&s=crash+session+restore&r=4&as=s
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/963214?esab=a&s=crash+session+restore&r=0&as=s
I am not that experienced with these sort of problems so anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm afraid that that session in lost.
The sessionstore.bak file is created at every start of Firefox as a copy of the sessionstore.js file saved in the previous session to make it possible to restore the previous session via the History menu at any time during the current session.
Once you have started Firefox more than once that previous version is replaced by that next session.
On more recent Windows (Vista and later) versions there is a way to restore a previous version of a file (*) if it has been saved as part of a session restore point, but Windows XP doesn't have this feature.
Your only option would be to check the history (History > Show All History) or browser cache (about:cache) to see if you can identify pages that you have visited.
