Had no problem uploading photos to my EBay account, until two weeks ago when EBay changed the software. Now photos will not load with Firefox, EBay tech says use Explorer. One "search adviser" tried to sell me online software service to solve the problem for $165! I told him to get lost. Had a foreign accent, said he was in Connecticut

I started creating a listing for my old mobile, but when eBay wanted my credit card number, I didn't end up posting it. The preview screen shot is attached, showing I was able to upload images using both the "classic" uploader and the advanced one. So there is hope.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove your eBay cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

This will open a dialog where you can remove your ebay.com cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

Also, please test with Ghostery disabled in case it is blocking something essential to the uploader. You can do that on this screen:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Same thing happened to me. No help on here. Cleared the cache and anything else I could clear. No help. I guess it's back to Internet Explorer.

Hi eezie, could you also try uploading the image in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

it was suggested to use Ebay's "classic uploader" and it worked with Firefox. Thanks!
