I have a Mac OX S version 10.6.1. Firefox auto updated to version 18.0 and stopped working properly. Everything on the screen appears distorted and unreadable. The screen seems a sloping plane. The graphics is totally unstable.

What happened? Firefox worked perfectly before the update. I have tried to re-install the new version (18.0 for mac) but the problem remains. In this moment Firefox is unusable.

I wonder if this new version of Firefox is compatible with my mac version. Do I have to install a previous version (e.g., Firefox 17)? What do I have to do to keep using Firefox?

Thanks

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

You can do a check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

Dear Tayler and cor-er, thank you for your help!

Updating to Mac 10.6.8 (Apple>Software update) solved the problem!

Cor-er, since Firefox now works, I have not tried your suggestions. But many thanks for your support. Should I have other problems in the future, I will definitely try your suggestions before posting any another request for help.

Thanks again. Impressed by the helpfulness of this community, Patrizia
