Top Sites not showing up on New Tab
I just updated to the new version FF 13.0 and the new feature that uses the history to display the top most visited sites on the new tab is not working. When I open a new tab it is blank, I tried pulling a site from my bookmarks and letting it load and then opening a new tab and it did show up, but when I went to pin it, it disappeared.
I have been using the "pin as app tab" feature from the previous version, but would like to try the new feature with the new tab page.

Thanks for the help Verdi, but that wasn't my problem. The thumbnails are blank, they do not link to any websites.
I figured out my problem though, in options I did not have the option checked to remember my browsing and download history. Once I checked that it started to keep track and when I open the new tab the top sites start to show up.

Maybe you have the new tab feature turned off? There is a toggle button in the upper-right corner. Also it's possible for the thumbnails to get deleted (will be fixed in Fx 14). Check out these references:
I guess it is possible that they got cleared when I updated to the new version, but how long will it take before the cache starts to build back up and the sites start to show on the new tab?
Open the new tab page, click on an empty thumbnail and let that site fully load. Then open another new tab page and that thumbnail should be restored. Rinse and repeat.

any one help me ....
Is the browsing cache enabled and working?
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage
You can also open the about:cache via the location bar to check the current cache usage.

yes the browsing cache is enabled .... and still the same problem without showing the images .... ?
You can try to clear the cache folder on disk to see if that help.
You can see the location on the about:cache page.
If that didn't help then try a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I have the same problem and it solved by this way :-
The solution for your problem is to reset firefox .... from help menu ..click on troubleshooting information and click on reset firefox ;;;

Verdi's solution is spot on. Fixes such as resetting Firefox or making a new profile are time consuming, unnecessary and have the potential to really screw up your browser, in my honest opinion. Go for the simple fix first. It worked for me. Thanks Verdi!
After downloading Firefox 13.0 I had problems with the new Top Sites Tab Page. I followed Verdi's advice by going on [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thumbnails-on-new-tab-page-are-missi...]. I followed the directions which were to, one by one, click on every blank Top Site Tab, wait for the websites to load completely, and then restart a new tab after each site load to see if the icon shows up. After all that the "pin" option doesn't work at all, and perhaps I am tired, cranky and totally confused at this point, but there's only 9 Top Sites that can be shown in the new tab window? Seriously or am I missing something here? I would like the option of having the ability to easily add my own sites but can't seem to find that option. Bottom line is that this application is a PITA.
My husband has been using the Firefox Add On Speed Dial for a long time now. He loves it. He's been on me all along to install this but I really never gave it much thought until tonight. I surprisingly liked the concept of Top Sites in theory, but in my opinion Mozilla rushed this out too soon. It needs more work.
If anyone feels the same and is interested in what I think is a much better alternative, use the hide option for the Top Sites tabs, and download/install Speed Dial. This Add On works "right out of the box" and it's much more flexible by far. There's a rather large menu for options but my favorite so far is the main config setting which can be configured for as many tabs as you want. Just type in how many rows and columns to display. You can even set up Groups and have limitless pages of Tabs if you like. Many other options, highly configurable.
Not sure if this will show correctly but try this URL if you are interested-

If the link doen't show I apologize but you can search Firefox add ons for Speed Dial. Until Mozilla releases a new update which will take care of the Top Sites problems and lack of customization, I am going to stick with Speed Dial.

Sorry...it's 4:00 a.m. here. Unbelievable brain fog.
The link to the site "new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites" helped. I had 5 entries on the new tab site and did not know how to fill the empty areas. The paragraph "Add a site" was my solution.
The real problem was, this point is missing in the german translation on site:
https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/neuer-tab-seite-wichtige-seiten-anzeigen-ausblende-und-anpassen
"Add a site" did the trick for me too. Once I found the English version: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites
I have this problem only with websites, which have cache expire date set in the past.
I tried the procedure where you open a page from the blank tab, but nothing happened. I also tried clearing my cache/history/cookies and it just made more thumbnails disappear.
