Firefox 3.5.15 prints my pants patterns full-scale; later versions do not.

I have an application for printing full-size apparel patterns on my web site. The patterns printed correctly on 3.5.15. Subsequent versions printed the patterns in miniature (about 1" in height); current version prints the web page instead of the patterns when I hit "Print this pattern".

I am using same HP 430 plotter, same computer, same software, same everything.

To determine the cause of the printing problem I went back and tried older versions of Firefox (in Texas) until I found that the 3.5.15 version was the one I was using when the patterns were printed correctly.

If you can solve my problem, I promise to sew up a custom pair of slacks for you. I live down the road in Mt. View close to El Camino Hospital.

Please help me resolve this problem so I can start selling my patterns. I am a retired schoolteacher with lots of money invested in this project. Teachers are interested in using my patterns in the classroom but I can't proceed with the patterns not printing correctly.

Do you have a page where we can test for that problem?

Maybe something that would be printed to a normal sheet of paper, like maybe a pattern for a pocket for a piece of clothing like scrubs. I doubt if any of us support "helpers" have access to a plotter. BTW, almost all support is rendered by volunteers from around the world, the people in Mountain View don't have much time to do support.

I'm printing a 12cm x 12cm square. The same size in Firefox 3.0.19, 3.5.19, 3.6.18, and 5.0 .

Are you sure the Scale in Page Setup or Print Preview is set to 100%.

That's about all I can come up with. I have no idea what xml+svg is about.

Yes. My scale is set to 100% on my plotter and my printer. But firefox 5.0 still prints my patterns in miniature--thumbnail size. For now, I am going to uninstall the new version and reinstall the 3.5.15 because my patterns print full size without a problem with that version.

I appreciate your responses and your help. Thank you so much.

Maybe the problem is unique to your PC / plotter. Have you tested it from a different PC? Like maybe at a FedEx Office (used to named Kinkos) store? The main thing is, will it work for your customers.

In the Chicago area all but the smallest FedEx Office stores have HP plotters, which customers can print to from the rental computers terminals. Back in 2008 and 2009 - during the time they switched from being FedEx Kinkos to FedEx Office, the rental terminals in the FedEx stores had Firefox installed, but I don't know if they currently do. I haven't been in any of their stores since late 2009. Prior to that I spent 6 to 8 hours a week in 3 or 4 different stores as a vendor, before FedEx changed to in store

If you have a lot of FedEx stores nearby, the larger the store, the more helpful and knowledgeable the associates may be. The larger store managers oversee a cluster of smaller stores and those managers tend to transfer the better associates to the "hub" to handle the more complicated and larger jobs they get.

Make sure your pages validate to W3C specs. I realize the "square" page was thrown together as an example, but Firefox has gotten pickier with invalid code. But that shouldn't impact this type of problem with printing and the size of an svc image.

I've tested on 2 different computer/plotter stations (in 2 different states!). Still get the thumbnail-sized miniature pattern in version 5.0. My theory now is that the default scale settings in ff 5.0 might be different from the settings in ff 3.5.15. That could possibly explain why my app prints to scale on the one and not on the other. I am going to pursue that avenue and that might require a look at the code in my application.

Thank you so much for your input and your links. In the meantime, I have my settings so ff 3.5.15 does not automatically update. Fortunately, I have 2 computer stations from which I am currently working.

Sorry I wasn't able to help you resolve that issue.

Hey, thanks for your kindly assistance--and especially for the link to that validator. Neat! I printed out the results and I will go back to visit that service.
