After updating to the newest version, my default search engine list is gone and when I dl a new search Add-on, it only stays during that browsing session - it's gone after closing/re-opening FF. Whats the deal??

I'm referring to the search bar located next to the URL window, of course. Like I said, upon installing the new FF, I have no available search engines. I have multiple times gone through the process of getting a new search Add-on (informative google search, to be specific) and it works fine up until restarting FF, then there is no trace of it ever having been installed.

Anyone else experiencing this problem since upgrading? More importantly, any suggestions as to how to proceed? It's really starting to piss me off, haha. Like, I'll literally type something into search and hit enter a few times, switching to other tabs and coming back to hit enter again before remembering its out of commission and begrudgingly redirecting myself to google manually.
