When I start Thunderbird many (often 20 or more) Firefox windows open up displaying the support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird page. Reistalling Thunderbird doesn't help. How can I prevent these browser windows from opening up?

try restarting Thunderbird from the help menu with addons disabled, then continue into safe mode when prompted. Did it still do it?
