Do I need to save my profile to restore the previous version? It is very confusing in the help files with conflicting information that makes me worry that I may not be able to use my profile from V75 in the previous version I only want to temporarily restore to the previous version until the web page display problems and URL address box overlapping the favourites bar are are sorted out but I hope to retain my bookmarks to work in the previous version Thanks TW

Note that Firefox 76 will be released Tuesday next week.

It is not recommended to downgrade a profile because not all files might be compatible and there is a risk of profile corruption or dataloss.

What problems do you have with web pages ?

You will have to use code in userChrome.css to disable the location bar 'breakout' feature. This change wont be reverted in future Firefox versions.

I did get the impression that saving profiles is not an option as it has risks of loosing the data. As V76 will be out soon I will wait and continue with Microsoft Edge until the update is out, (I do not like Edge, after Firefox I find it irritating to use) The enlarged address bar that appeared after the last update, (over which I spent hours trying to find out what had gone wrong) is the sort of annoyance that you get in Edge.

The address bar is just an annoyance, but the reason I wanted to downgade is the problem with web pages on some sites appear to loose the formatting. It is like loosing the ccs. I recall this from when I did some html on our companys site. It only affects some sites, ebay and Toshiba for example, so I am hoping the update will cure the problem. The general work around that is on the help sites is to delete the cookies, and this works but only appears to last for a while and then the problem is back. Hopefully the new update will set this straight Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated Regards TW

If you lose CSS then normally the only reason is content blocking extensions (some security software could do this as well). What content blocking extensions are you using ? Tracking Protection in Firefox hardly ever affects CSS (mostly images are affected).

I use Kaspersky Internet Security application with anti-banner etc switched on and not experienced any problems until the last update. It also would seem unlikely to be Kaspersky because so many other users are complaining about the same error in Firefox following the update

I am not saying that the problem is css, it's just how I can describe the effect on the web pages affected

Hi Currently on version 77.0.1 yet still getting problems that look like css errors on websites like Toshiba uk support, and ref. the origin of this thread, the URL address box is still enlarged and overlapping the toolbars. Today I was told by my Internet Banking support that Firefox was problematic and to always use Edge browser when using my online banking as they find most users report the online banking application hanging when using Firefox. The advice they give is to keep clearing cookies in Firefox until it works or use Microsoft Edge. I was doubtful and thought I was being fobbed off but after running the Edge browser all the problems went away. I am getting fed up with clearing the cookies to try and get Firefox to work so my question is When Will Firefox Be Useable Again???? It is my favourite browser and I appreciate all the security it provides but I am sure you will understand that I do have a trequirement to be able to use it for commerce without continuous problems. This last debacle where I am informed Edge is the browser to use for Internet Banking has just about pulled the cap on my patience Thanks TW

Am I missing something? Version 78 now and the URL address box is still enlarged, website formatting is showing the same problems and still I have to resort to Edge browser to use some online banking applications. Today I downloaded and tested the New Edge browser and although it is not my favourite layout it all works OK. I am getting to conclusion that Firefox is just too old and past it's time now. The bottom line is that I am fed up with being disappointed and my patience is run out. Is there going to be a resolution to these problems at any time in the very near future?

Firefox 78 has a new setting to defer animation/enlargement of the address bar until you start typing and the drop-down opens. If you want to try that, check out this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1292419

Pages can load without stylization due to style sheets from other servers being blocked. Sometimes this is due to external software that filters requests to CDNs or presents Firefox with fake website certificates. Has your Firefox exhibited any problems making secure connections?

Thanks for your reply jscher2000, much appreciated. Unfortunately the settings you mention do not have any effect on the enlarged URL box, and the web site resolution and on-line financial services issues remain. I started this post simply because I wanted to revert back to a working version 74! Anyway, not your responsibility and I thank you for your response

That's strange, are you sure you created the ui.prefersReducedMotion preference as a number type and not a string type? You might test in a new window (Ctrl+n) if it doesn't seem to be taking effect in the current window.

and the web site resolution and on-line financial services issues remain.

What is the web site resolution issue?

As for your bank, it sounds like you already have their opinion on using Firefox with their site. Considering the sensitive nature of the information, it may not be worth fighting with them over that.

Using older versions with known security vulnerabilities is not supported here, sorry.

Hi, thanks for your reply I have ditched Firefox and gone to the new Edge browser. It's just an easy way out of all the problems. Thank you for your response though. Much appreciated
