It seems like I cannot delete any contacts in an address book called Mac OS X Address book. This address book was automatically created. I did not create it.

The delete button is grayed out and I cannot delete any contacts from this address book. I also cannot delete any contacts that are in the Mac OS X address book from my All Address Books folder.

You open the address book in whatever application Apple provides for accessing their address book and you follow the procedure set out by apple to do so.

Personally I would not use it at all, but apparently you have already made the decision to do so.
