I access several Gmail accounts (personal and professional) on Firefox. Until recently, all of them had their account names (but NOT their passwords) memorized for autocomplete, which was very time-efficient considering some account names are quite long and complex: I would just type the first few letters and then select among the memorized options.

These past few days this changed: Now, on one of my computers just my personal account has its name memorized. I have to fully type all other account names (namely all my professional accounts). On my other computer, on the other hand, only 4 specific account names are memorized (including one from a friend who occasionally uses that computer, but NOT my personal account and some of my professional accounts).

Any idea why this is happening? Thank you

Firefox has never saved a "username" without also saving the "password" in the "Password Manager". What you were probably seeing was a "form data" entry getting saved and the username field for website login was picking up that "form data" entry having been remembered.

Firefox 43 has a new "Logins Manager" and I don't think "form data" would be used for a "username" field for "login" in lieu of a saved username / password any longer; but I can't say that with any certitude. I don't have very much "form data" saved in Firefox 43 to try to reproduce the older 'fluke' where "form data" was offered up as the "username" for website login. I primarily use the Firefox 38 ESR version - Extended Support Release.

Yes, you're right. I didn't use the correct term. It's, in fact, the "form data" entries that were "forgotten" at a certain point (I don't know when) and are not being memorized anymore. But that only happened on Google accounts login. And I was stuck with 1 entry memorized in um computer and 4 other memorized in another computer... Anyway, I solved the problem by checking the "Stay signed in" option.

The website might be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and auto-filling form data. You can check that via the right-click context menu in the Inspector (Inspect Element).

Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used. Start typing the name to get a drop-down list.
