The tiles don't populate when I open a new tab. The cog gives three options - Classic, Enhanced or Blank. The cog does not give the options on the Mozilla page explaining the tiles. I am using Tor Browser on a MacBook Pro with the El Capitan OS. This is where the link sent me for more information.

The Tor browser is a special modified version of Firefox (probably based upon the ESR version) and may not include all features that the official desktop version has. Firefox normally generates the tile images from the disk cache and that cache may not be enabled. You can check that on the about:cache page to see if it specifies a folder on the hard drive.

I checked the about:cache page. The storage disk location says, "none, only stored in memory." I have done online searches and notice that previous versions included a bug that did not enable the tiles. My version of Tor is 5.0.4. I did not see that particular bug for this version. One commenter said to disable eliminating history on exit but I don't know exactly what that means.
