I have two questions, my bookmarks or the manager are not working , each time I attempt access teh manager I get a pop up that says script is not working?
First one is about the Bookmarks manager, for some time now the manger has not worked, I get a popup that says script not working do I want to stop, debug or continue. Nothing seems to work. Eventually the manager will allow me to view the listed bookmarks but will not allow me to save or backup or do anything to transfer them to a new computer, It will only create a backup of a small portion of the listed bookmarks. My second problem is that with a new computer I tried to transfer the bookmarks to it and now I have the same problem. I tried to uninstall Firefox on the new computer and even thought I found and deleted the profile. But when I installed the new d/led version Of Firefox the bookmarks were already installed and the bookmark manager still had the same problems. I've had a problem with the bookmark manager for a long time. I have been using WinXP and had no problems with Firefox other than the manager , now I'm switching to a new computer with Win 8.1 and I can't move all my book marks to it. I've tried FEBE same problems with the popup script message and can't create a bookmark file complete with all bookmarks to transfer. Boy do I need help. G.Paterson

Hey, solved my second problem (uninstall and install new Firefox) but still need some help with the original problem of the Bookmark manager and how to transfer bookmarks from my old WinXP machine with t,he bookmark manager problem to the new Win 8.1 machine if possible.
I think there are several possibilities:
(1) Conflict with an extension or plugin (2) Corrupted or damaged program files (3) Corrupted database
For #1, your Question Details > More System Details doesn't raise any red flags for me. We could come back to this scenario.
For #2, I recommend the following:
Clean Reinstall
We use this name, but it's not about removing your settings, it's about making sure the program files are clean (no inconsistent, corrupted, or alien code files). As described below, this process does not disturb your existing settings. Do NOT uninstall Firefox, that's not needed.
(A) Download a fresh installer for Firefox 41.0 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)
(B) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).
(C) Rename the program folder, either:
(32-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files\OldFirefox
(64-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox
(D) Run the installer you downloaded in (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.
Does the Library dialog work better?
Note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:
- \OldFirefox\Plugins
- \OldFirefox\browser\plugins
For #3, bookmarks are history are stored together in the places.sqlite database. There is an extension which allows you to run some database cleanup tasks to try to eliminate data problems. I'm not very familiar with using it myself.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then try to remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
