Can Firefox be optimized for google docs
When I bring up a spreadsheet online in google docs Firefox starts dimming the screen, others tabs run slow. The screen dimming will last, for 2-3 minutes, and then clear up, 2-3 minutes later it will dim again. The fewer tabs I have helps, but not the answer. IMO the problem has gotten worse over the few upgrades. I have an HP 2000 Laptop, CPU 1300.000 MHz, memory 7586 MiB.

Well some good and some bad.
I backedup Firefox with FEBE, then un-instaled, and shut down. Brought the computer backup and re-i9nstalled Firefox. When I opened up Firefox I had a problem with Gdrive (Ubuntu 'My Drive' interface), so re-installed/updated Gdrive. In the process there was msg that the old Gdrive files were going to be deleted. It also appears the un-install of Firefox left most Firefox environment behind. I was able to get to the spreadsheet and got the script error. I opened another file about half the size of the first , same script error. I created a new file and added a few googlefunctions, no error. Google recently update their Calc program for spreadsheets and I noticed a difference in the new file. I had assumed that the upgrade update was backwards compatible, perhaps not. I'll check google to see if there are similar problems. Solved?

To eliminate if its a sheets issue, make a copy of the sheet and see if the error continues to happen. There is a possibility that the calculations in the sheet may take a while to load, if this is the case it is possible to extend the script timing for this warning in Firefox:
- Warning Unresponsive script - What it means and how to fix it particularly this section: Letting the Script Run Longer
Scratch that, since there was no error in a new spreadsheet it is possible that there is something going on in the js. Report it to Google.
I have reported the problem to Google.
I looked at the docs for the new Google Calc and did see where there was a problem with functions(?) that continually update the data, but no mention was made of googlefinance specifically. It also appears that the new version was available early last year and they are still converting old files to the new version. I'll follow up when I hear back from Google. Thanks all the help.
