npUnity3D32.dll is crashing when i close the unity web player
npUnity3D32.dll is crashing the unity web player plugin when i hit exit on the unity web player and I can't figure out why. I tested it on every version of firefox from 31.0.0 to 34.0.5 and it only works up to 31.0.3 and 32 forward it fails and crashes.
Here is my crash report.
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bb062c0f-fbcc-4e65-a136-0fda42141209

The crash reports flagged these programs;
npUnity3D32.dll
Process Type plugin Unity Player Version:4.6.1.51269
The crash report says you are using Windows NT ?
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.
I am running windows 8.1 on a POS touch screen system. It is completely up to date on all windows updates and is running firefox 34.0.5. The website i'm having the issue on is a website myself and my team have built.
It looks like it could maybe be an issue with using xmlhttprequest.
I have no addons to the browser aside from unity web player, and the only anti virus on the computer is windows defender, which, i already made a file exception for the npUnity3D32.dll file.
Starting firefox in safe mode doesn't resolve the issue. Nor does disabling hardware acceleration.
I noticed the report says windows NT, but it's absolutely running windows 8.1. Not sure how or why it's grabbing NT.
Here is a list of the other log id's.

For now, disable Unity and use Firefox. Are there any problems?
The submitted crash reports are all the same.
Can you post the web address so we can see it?
I've called the big guys to help you.
Hey Fred, thanks for calling in the big guns! I'm not in the office today, so i can't submit them untill tomorrow as their on our machine there. It's a peice of software that we've built for commercial use and as per confidentiality agreement I can't really give anyone access to it. I'll give you all as much as I can though. I will submit all the logs, but their all identical. It's always the same issue, unity starts to unload and it crashes as soon as it does. It has to be some interaction between windows 8.1, firefox 32 forward, and the newest unity web player. I tested it on one of our older systems, running windows xp pos, firefox 34.0.5, and the newest unity web player, and it unloads just fine.
On the windows 8.1 system, if i run firefox 31.0.3 or below, it also works perfectly fine.
I tried going through the notes of what changed between 31.0.3 and 32 to see if i could determine what was causing it, but i haven't found anything that shows signs of it.
Our site uses the offline caching with cache.manifest and we have some xmlhttprequests pinging our server to check online offline status in order to redirect properly through the fallbacks in cache.manifest.
Any other info you require, let me know. The windows 8 system is a fresh install with literally nothing extra on it aside from firefox and unity web player.
As an addendum: I have run system monitoring software to make sure it's not crashing due to cpu usage, memory usage, heat problems, hdd space, etc. The system never goes past using 30% cpu, 50% ram, and has at least 20gb free hdd space on the main drive. The only thing I am not entirely sure about is the onboard graphics. It's running the Intel(r) HD Graphics drivers and i've made sure their all updated to the highest version they have, along with my chipset drivers and all other hardware drivers.

Here is an updated and submitted list of error logs. It looks like it's changed slightly. Not sure why or how, nothing on the pc has changed. Hope it can shed more light on the issue.

The crash reports flagged these programs;
npUnity3D32.dll = Unity Player
ntdll.dll = Microsoft
Perform a System File Check to fix corrupted system files http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
See if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Tried both of thoes things. Neither fixed it.
Have you considered reinstalling the Unity player? http://stats.unity3d.com/web/os.html
Ah also check to see if there is a program in the operating system that might be force stopping the player. Maybe a proxy? It goes to network > active x > then the player. Try to reinstall the player.
Its older versions was blocked for click to play: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fire.../p558
Do you have click to play enabled?
- Open Firefox.
- Type about:config into the address bar and hit Enter.
- If you receive a warning about modifying settings, click the I'll be careful, I promise button to proceed.
- In the search bar that appears at the top of the page, enter plugins.click_to_play. The configuration setting should appear on a single line, toggle it and restart Firefox
If this continues, try to set it to ask to activate. When you click to activate it does it also crash?
I have reinstalled unity many times, Not using any proxy and activex should be up to date and running fine, i can't find any issues with it currently. The only error i'm getting from the unity logs is can't find xinput1_3.dll, and even when i put the dll in the appropriate folder, it gives that error.
I have set plugins.click_to_play as false and it still crashes on exit.
The plugin runs fine, it's on the exit of it that it crashes.
I've also made sure to open everything up, put exceptions for everything in windows defender, even with firewall turned off, and all firefox .exe files set to run as admin, it crashes when it closes the plugin. Everything runs fine untill it closes.
It has to be something that changed in firefox though, as it will run perfectly fine on a windows xp pos system with firefox 34.0.5, the most up to date unity web player, no crashes on close down. On Windows 8.1 with firefox 31.3.0 it runs and closes just fine also. But as soon as it goes to windows 8.1 and firefox 32, it crashes on exit.
Does windows defender include this anti-virus: Rising AntiVirus 2009 one of the reports has this antivirus listed: combase.dll
The xinput1_3.dll is DirectX and this may be an issue. Make sure that the graphics drivers are up to date on the computer and in Firefox: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
Windows defender is Microsoft Security Essentials integrated into windows 8 and 8.1. So no, i Don't believe were using anything called Rising Antivirus 2009.
All of our graphics drivers are completely up to date. That was one of the first things I checked into and made sure were up to date.
Looking more into this, now there is a bug that is associated with some of the crash signatures. Does this bug look like it affects when you use the unity player?
It looks like it's probably something similar to that bug. Still not sure why it's happening. Tried reinstalling windows 8.1 embedded industry pro, fresh install of firefox, and unity web player. Still happens.
Tried it on my personal pc at home, windows 8.1, fresh install of firefox, unity webplayer and it runs just fine.
The weirdest part is that it has no problems running on firefox 31.3.0. Everything works perfectly. Then firefox 32.0 up, it hangs and crashes on the program closing and redirecting the browser.
Might be something with this machine, some unique setting on industry pro perhaps. Still looking into it. Any help available would be great.

As a further update, I have found a possible work around / hint as to the issue.
The plugin was crashing on a redirect, so, i changed what were using from window.location = "location"; to window.open("location");window.close();
this opens a new tab with the location and closes the current tab very quickly, making it seem like it's redirecting.
Interestingly enough, opening a new tab with the location never causes the plugin to crash.
I will also be open to alternative for window.open/window.close that may work.
