Cannot upload pictures on Ebay when using Firefox with Windows 8.1 - but works with IE 11
Problem with uploading Photos on Ebay only when Firefox is my Browser - -
Just recently I have noticed I cannot upload pictures anymore using the option STANDARD. I have to use their BASIC option, which is one picture at a time.
When I select STANDARD I find that BROWSE does not respond. My configuration is Windows 8.1, 8gb memory and using the latest Firefox.
Rather oddly it works fine with -
8.1 + Internet Explorer XP + IE XP + Firefox
Just this combination - no go.
Any ideas ?

Well folks - for some reason after weeks of not being able to upload photos - now I can, I tried it last night
I have not changed anything but done the monthly updates from Microsoft and also Flash Player have also done auto updates for me from Tuesday night onwards.
Got a feeling that Firefox has also done a update to version 33 in the past week (but I dont know for sure)
So one of these must have been the culprit as uploading works again.
Many thanks to everyone who offered to help.

Try setting Flash to Ask to Activate in your plugins/addons menu of Firefox. I just tried this and was successful.
- Clear the Cache as well
- Reset Firefox Reset Firefox preferences to troubleshoot and fix problems
Many thanks for your reply, its very kind of you to help. I have done all three of your suggestions and none has helped.
I have written to Ebay but they have not replied.
Difficuilt to tell if the problem is with Windows 8.1, Mozilla or Ebay. I am open to any more suggestions, hopefully from one of these organisations.

It is possible to temporarily disable the avast antivirus?
Yes I can disable Avast (all shields), but unfortuantely it has not made any difference.
Does anyone else have this problem, then please would you let me know.
Kind Regards ..
Hi Kingsmiller, Thank you, I did some more research on this and found that others were affected by this when they had a corrupt cache. Flushing the dns cache on the system would help if it was affected in both browsers. However you have already tried this. Is there a difference when you use wifi vs an Ethernet cable?
I normaly use Ethernet but just tried it on Wi-Fi - same result unfortuantely.
Had same problem since I updated FF26. Always same old answers that don't work: reset FF, reinitialize, try "mode sans echec" (forgot english name for this), cut off addons, AV & firewall, check in config:about etc.. Think posts concerning this same problem are skattered all around because it has many different issues. And that's why FF has not yet digged to the genuine cause. My facts: 1) can't browse to send an attachment with an email (but I can with IE); 2) In tools/options if I check "ask where to record" browse doesn't work either. 3) In tools/options if I check "download in such or such file", then it does download in file named "telechargement" ( in french) but I can't choose another file because here again "browse" doesn't work. I saw a post somewhere talking about problems related to avast (it's my AV). Know if it's true? I'd be really glad if this could be solved cause I don't intend to change. FF is the best!
So very pleased you responded. I don't actually have your problems, but they do sound that they could be related to mine.
I wish someone can put their finger on it. Is it Firefox or Avast or is it Windows 8.1 at fault. For mere morals like us we cannot work this out, so please if anyone has had this actual problem then do publish your experience and hopefully what was your cure.
Regards
Completely agree with you. Your post reminds me another fact I should add as 4) I run XP sp3 but I've seen posts about this problem on many other Windows OSs. Sorry I dont remind which or them.
TY
If it may be of any use, I will also add 5) Same issues when I work with another mailbox.
Ebay also has troubleshooting for Basic photo uploading here.
However it also looks like there is another thread affected by this recently https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1025366/
Does this still happen in Firefox 33? And one last question before filing a bug, have you checked your Antivirus? As well as are there any modified Security settings in the site itself: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-problems-images-not-show
Thank you for offering these links. I will check them out and get back to you if any works.
Any luck with this? I'm the poster in the other thread mentioned.
If the fault is being caused by a plug in/extension is there a way of working out which one is causing it?

Started working again for me too!
Wahoo!
If it may be usefull to anyone, here is how I solved my problem which seems to have some connections with this post.
It is related to Avast. The last time I updated the programm it's self (not the virus list), my firewall (Outpost) asked to allow Avast Secure line to run, adding that it would change something in FF. I stopped it and FF worked fine again. I can download files and place them where I want and I can send files using the "browse" button again. All the best
