A recent problem has arisen - whenever I click a link searched through a search engine, it automatically opens in a new tab. My tab settings are correct (I think!), and this only happens when clicking through seach engines - not when within a website etc. I took a quick search through the support, but didn't see an answer pertaining to my problem.

Any suggestions or preference changes I can make?

Thanks!

This happens in Safe Mode?

Yep it still happens in safe mode - I haven't installed any new add-ons, although perhaps one could have updated to cause this issue?

Do you mean that this happens when you search via the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar?

You can check the browser.search.openintab pref on the about:config page and reset this pref via the right-click context menu to the default value if the value is user set (bold).

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue

If it is a problem with the Google website then try to clear the Google cookies and also check the Google Search settings page.
