how to retrieve accidentally deleted history from 6 months and older
I work on PC and was going through my history 6 months and older to see the links I needed to save and delete what I didn't need.
I was deleting three links when the whole thing just went blank. I desperately need to retrieve this history as I need it for work.
I was wondering what to do and if restoring my system to a previous version will affect my firefox history? Please help!

You can try to restore a previous version of the places.sqlite file (keep a backup copy of the current version of the file).
- Right-click: Properties > Previous Versions
- http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions
Note that the places.sqlite file is storing the bookmarks and the history, so you may have to backup the bookmarks to an HTML file before doing this or restore the bookmarks from a JSON backup.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Thanks for the reply.
I have gone to places.sqlite file but only see January's files to be restored.
Also when I have checked in 'all history' on the firfox browser under 'import and back up' and then 'restore' it only shows a few dates in January and this last week.
Does that mean I have lost all the rest?
Yes, it is likely that you lost that history for good.
Maybe check the browsing cache to see if you can reconstruct the history.
