It's time to raise this again because it's still not solved. It's in there since 3.6 and now it's version 12!

I freshly installed Firefox 11 (then 12) doesn't offer to save the password.

- YES, I read this article http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered - YES, I read about 20 articles and so-called solutions about this. None of them helped. - Everything is default, no settings have been changed - NO, there is no historical or imported data. It's a fresh and plain installement. - NO, the always use private session is not ticked - YES, the Remember passwords for sites is ticked - NO, it's nothing about protected sites. I created a simple {username}{password} page. Firefox doesn't offer the password save. - NO, I didn't installed any plug-ins - YES, if I start Firefox in Safe mode, it offers the password save. But remember, there are no add-ons to disable. Please solve this, because it's the last drop for me. I'll leave Firefox very soon.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I gave up trying and tryig. In the meantime it turned out that the add-on installation doesn't work either. I click on 'Install add-on', a small jigsaw piece appears in the navigation toolbar and that's it. Neither the usual yellow line pops up (Firefox blocks blah-blah-blah,click here to enable) nor the add-on is getting installed.

I'm writing this reply in my freshly installed Firefox 3.6.28 This version does everything what I want so I'm satisfied with this version. Case closed.

I gave up on Firefox on my Mac last night because of this problem. Uninstalled Firefox and made Safari my browser for the first time in 10 years of Mac ownership. I'm about to do the same for my Win7 netbook. Password storage and recall is a simple and expected feature of a modern browser and the designers who failed to implement that feature on this so-called "update" should be terminated. Another poorly thought out feature of Firefox is the insistence on upgrading regardless of the bug list. My previous version worked in every way. v11 is a POS.
