My system crashed, as it has many times at Ameritrade site, and in restoring my open windows, Firefox automatically updated, and now every link on any open web page is highlighted. I want to turn off the highlighting.

Solution choisie

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I'm not sure what you mean with highlighted.

Do you mean that it is in a different color or has a background color or is bold?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

There is a background color, almost always gray, although sometimes the background color is red. I can not detect any reason or difference for the occasional red background.

I am unable to supply a screenshot, but if you look at a web page like the Drudge Report, every link on the page (which is almost everything on the page) has a background of gray, or it looks like everything is highlighted in gray.

Thanks for your help.
