Why don't the menu-bar shortcut keys work in fullscreen mode?
I use fullscreen mode almost exclusively, but in this mode, the menu-bar shortcuts don't seem to function (e.g. alt+b = bookmark menu). I have to toggle out of fullscreen mode (F11) to use a shortcut, then toggle back to fullscreen when done. Internet Explorer didn't have this problem.

If you want access to the bookmarks in full screen mode then either open the bookmarks in the sidebar via Ctrl+B or drag the Bookmarks Menu button on a toolbar (Navigation Toolbar or Tab bar) that you can make visible in full screen mode.
Firefox 4 has two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu.
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.
You can drag the Bookmarks menu button with the drop marker in the Customize window from the toolbar palette on a toolbar (e.g. Navigation Toolbar or Tab Bar or to the left side of the Bookmarks Menu Items).
You only see the Bookmarks menu button if the menu bar is hidden.
If the bookmarks toolbar is visible then the default bookmarks menu button will appear on the right hand side of the Bookmarks Toolbar as part of the Bookmarks Toolbar Items.
It took a while to figure out how to get the "Customize" window, but when I did, I could only find 1 star button (without the drop-down), which got the sidebar bookmark menu -- not the one i wanted. I couldn't find a 2nd star button (with drop-down).
If that button isn't in the toolbar palette then you may already have dragged it on a toolbar.
If you can't find the button then click "Restore Default Set".
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
[I stumbled upon the Customize window by right-clicking an empty space on the address bar.] I discovered that the Bookmarks button with the drop-down marker was off-screen on the far right side of the address bar. It only shows when i exit fullscreen mode and bring up the Customize window. Under normal operation, when i mouse the top of the screen to bring down the address & tab bars, the Bookmark button is off-screen and inaccessable. I was able to drag it from the address bar to the tab bar, so now it's visible and usable. But i'd still rather be able to just hit alt+b (I'm not a 'mouse' person).
Thank you for the assistance -- i learned a little bit from it.
