I keep getting the message Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at search.yahoo.com. It was playing up earlier today and now I can't get any response via Firefox at all.

This morning whilst on the internet I kept having problems with very slow connection using Firefox. I gave up in the end and tonight when I tried to use use Firefox I just got the message that Firefox couldn't establish the connection and no webpage would open. I have tried using other browsers such at Chrome etc and they work fine so it isn't the internet connection as such. It's quite frustrating

Did Firefox update to 4.0.1?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
