I have done what the above link said and am still having the same problem. Is there anything else that could be doing this?

I have the same thing going on...I am wondering with all these post all saying that it is with foxfire...if they are not the problem?
I hope it not because they are making their programs different, to help wipe out Windows XP?

Because I too, have upgrade..uninstalled, and redownload

I'm experiencing the same problem. I've never had it before prior to the upgrade.

any other options besides messing with the timing?

Even upgrading to 3.6.6, it's making firefox hangs whenever you have a lot of flash files on same page... the working size of the plugin-container.exe gets to >127K

The worst part of this whole thing is it shows just how much content on the web is Flash driven - the issue impacts common browsing on sites like IMDB or anything that has a Flash-driven object embedded.

Having to tweak settings that impact other plugins and overall functioning or downgrading is NOT a fix.

I was having the same problem and followed a suggestion on another post to this problem stating to open a tab and type in about:config and go to dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs and set it to 90. That was working for about a week but the problem came back. I then came across this http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Plugin+crash+reports?style_mode=inproduct&as=u

Instead of changing the setting to 90 it suggests changing the setting to -1. I have just tried that and so far I am not having the problem.

The only question is just how long it will be before it starts crashing again.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.

My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at the following link: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".

After you have installed it, if you decide you want to keep version 3.5.10 for now, you will have to un-tick the automatic update option in menu: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Update -> Automatically check for updates to Firefox

This is getting really frustrating with Adobe Flash plugin crashing all the time. Firefox really needs to fix this without having to downgrade to an older version of the browser!!

The timeout and farmville or any other stupid game is not the issue with the plugin container crash. There is something else going on. Simple embedded flash videos crash for me.

I don't know if this helps but I will share what happened to me.

When I replaced my motherboard I had the flash crashes. Then I remembered I had problems with the first MB on board LAN. I bought a $15 LAN card from Intel and never had another problem. So, when I started having the problem with flash after installing the new MB I went into the BIOS and disabled the on board LAN. No more crashes. The on board LAN is made by Nvidia. A tech told me the problem with the LAN is something to do with timing, which might make sense with flash problems.

It is a cheap fix if it applies to anyone else.

if Flash crashes, just be grateful. Find a CPU use utility and watch what happens when Flash is active; install a flashblocker and get an improvement in both performance and reliability of your system (really, effect of only one Flash process can be huge) For those sites that require flash, a decent flashblocker will let you perform that abomination briefly, and easily. You may find -- as a lot of people have -- that most Flash processes are somebodies attempt to use *your* system for *their* short term gain (almost spam-like in effect) I think a lot of folks are becoming convinced that Steve Job's anti-Flash aren't anti-Adobe as a company but are based on real problems with the resource-hogging design of Flash
